In case you missed it, last year saw a great number of technological innovations with 3D Printing heavy on everyone’s lips. None more so than Airbus and APWorks’ Light Rider. They claimed in early 2016 that they were working on the world’s first 3D Printed motorcycle. Using their 3D printing expertise, they’ve recently produced the first prototype 3D Printed electric motorcycle and it looks fantastic. Continue reading
You may already know what electroplating is but what you may not know is how it works. Electroplating can be described as a common metal finishing or improving process used in a number of industrial applications.
It’s not new though as the earliest form, which became the modern electroplating process, occurred in the early 19th century. At this time, the development of bigger electric generators meant higher currents which drastically improved the process. With the advancement of industrial and manufacturing practices over the past two hundred years, this process has greatly evolved. Continue reading
Although the construction of steel buildings began way back in the 20th century, their use became more widespread during World War II and significantly expanded after the war when steel became more readily available.
Steel buildings have been widely accepted, in part due to cost efficiency. What’s more, the range of application has expanded with improved materials, products and design capabilities and with the availability of computer aided design software.
Here at PRV Engineering we offer a first-class steel framework fabrication and concreting service. Designed as an extension to the services we already provide for the construction industry, and for businesses that are very cost conscious, we believe our new facility is the ideal solution. The word “fabrication” means to make something from raw material. In the case of metal fabrication, that raw material is, unsurprisingly, metal. The material used in metal fabrication will however have already been processed from its true raw state into a usable raw material format such as metal sheet, rod, or bar.
Fabrication differs from assembling. Rather than using a processed raw material, the assembly process uses parts or components specifically made for the purpose. Assembly is however an operation that is included in the art of fabrication. Continue reading
The new steel framework fabrication and concreting service is yet another example of how PRV’s CEO Simon Jones won’t give the grass any chance to grow beneath the company’s feet. Following hot on the heels of recent new investments in the latest state of the art CNC machinery costing in excess of £1 million, this new venture demonstrates Simon’s passion and resolve for continuous expansion and diversification.
If you want Something Doing Right …
PRV have recently had their factory extended. But rather than waiting for someone else to provide the new steelwork frame and concreting, they took the bull by the horns and did it themselves. Drawings and specifications were provided by fully qualified architects, and PRV poured the concrete, and manufactured and erected the steelwork, all to specification. “It gives you more control over the process, including the timing”, said Simon, “and you know what they say? – If you want something doing right – do it yourself”!
