Subcon (the sub-contractors exhibition that showcases the best of the UK high precision engineering machining industry) is about to get underway again at the NEC in Birmingham. This year it is being held from the 4th till the 6th of June. With a list of top class exhibitors , it promises to be a great exhibition!

Advanced Engineering in the Spotlight

The focus of Subcon is on advanced manufacturing. Exhibitors include the likes of:

  • Clamason – a specialist press-working company. Clamason supply vital components for an Insulin delivery product. The product has been nominated as a finalist at the 15th annual Medical Design Excellence awards.
  •  Phoenix Dynamics will be showcasing their skills and expertise in the wiring harness and interconnection industry. They are exhibiting their new 3D printing technology which allows clients the opportunity of seeing their products early on during the design process.

A Selection of Seminars

One of the big attractions of the Subcon exhibition are the seminars that are laid on by top product and service providers. They allow visitors the opportunity to update themselves with the latest innovations that are going on in the engineering sector. The seminars point the spotlight on practical solutions to practical problems. They are led by engineering industry experts from companies like of ADS, Delcam, EEF, GTMA, NPL, Oxford Instruments, and Trumpf.

Your Questions and Problems Answered

These seminars will examine industry best practice using expert diagnosis of a number of pertinent case studies. These studies pose questions and challenges that many engineering businesses face from day to day. They will offer unique turn-key solutions that can be applied on a case by case basis, but using a more generic approach.

Latest Developments in 5 Axis Machining

The Subcon seminars will include a presentation by Peter Dicken of software specialists, Delcam. This seminar portrays the latest technologies in 5 axis machining. It’s a subject which is very topical right now with leading suppliers like PRV Engineering investing heavily in this state of art development. It gives their client base access to advanced engineering technology and methodologies that both reduce lead times and cycle times, whilst lower costs too.

Intelligent Maintenance

As well as seminars on practical engineering, there are also workshops examining the theoretical side of manufacturing through the application of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems). This intelligent approach to maintenance management can help to significantly lower manufacturing costs. It also minimises machine downtime to an absolute minimum.

An International Event

Subcon is the most significant exhibition in the high precision engineering machining sector here in the UK. 86% of exhibitors are UK based companies. But there are also a number of leading engineering companies from other countries around the world. These include China, Denmark, France, Ireland, Italy, Singapore, and Taiwan, making Subcon a truly international event too.

PRV Engineering will be attending Subcon and can be found at stand E35. If you want to come and see us or have any questions get in touch.

Entrance to Subcon 2013 at the NEC, Birmingham is free, and you can register online now at the Subcon website.
